It has been found to be especially beneficial in the treatment of muscle strain, tears, tendonitis, contusions, plantar fasciitis, scar tissue and more. Ultrasound uses sound waves and not mechanical pressure to elicit its therapeutics effects therefore, it can be used as a safe and pain-free alternative to a massage therapy treatment early in the acute stages of healing when the deep benefits of massage are desired but the pressure or friction of a conventional treatment may be too painful or contraindicated.
